On Tuesday morning, we barely had 30 minutes after the 7 or 8 security checkpoints at the Barcelona airport for passengers boarding El Al. Many questions about our involvement in Jewish community at home. I was feeling guilty that we hadn't renewed our membership at Etz.. Long flight, but only an hour difference - so no lag this time. Arrived in Tel-Aviv at 7:30pm. Hazy, HOT, humid - as Israel in midsummer would be expected to be. Richard complained that this weather does nothing for him, but I had to keep in mind that I didn't know how much longer Rama and Natan would be around, so the weather was not a factor for me. Bless Richard, he was nearly selfless accompanying me on this trip that was largely for me to visit my relatives, and very little "sightseeing" as was our previous tour trip in 2006.
Arrived by crazy cab driver to the
Cinema Hotel at Dizengoff Center on Zamenhoff Street. The hotel was renovated from one of the first theatres in Israel, now a hotel and cinema museum. Smart, clean rooms. Richard was still kind of ill, and just stayed in the room while I walked about a block to find Amelia's cafe and picked up two mint teas and uggiot (cookies) for us. Walked past a wash n' dry street laundry, which is something Richard depended on since he was going through his clothes a lot faster than me.
